KILLER

Now I know why they call the Swine flu a killer, because it nearly killed me!

At least five people have succumbed in the Tri-state area, most being much younger than me, so I consider myself very lucky!

The CDC says "several thousand people die annually in the U.S. due to the various strains of flu." However, they don't know the actual numbers as doctors and hospitals are only required to notify them for those under the age of eighteen that succumb to the flu.

Weird!!!  Guess if we older people (19 and up) kick the bucket from the flu, it doesn't count!  You'd think the government would want to know the true numbers, as they want to know everything else about us.  But, I digress...

Swine flu, really scary!  As it came on so suddenly!

No foreboding sore throat or any other symptom one might think would go with a "typical" flu  (if there is such a thing as typical flu).  Not this one!

At first, your chest tightens like you have an elephant sitting on your chest, accompanied by a high fever.

You think the congestion will never break loose but once it does  it doesn't stop!  It was like a boiling, roiling pot in my lungs constantly churning.  Whenever I inhaled it sounded like an empty Mylar balloon - crinkly!

I can imagine it is the same feeling akin to drowning.

I honestly don't remember much about those two weeks in January, as I was flat on my back in bed nearly the whole time.

Then DH's gallbladder apparently decided it no longer wanted to hang around so it began spewing gangrene, While I was there for his surgery, I came down with the flu later that night.  Had to leave the hospital and couldn't come back because I was too ill, plus I didn't want to give him the flu.   Thankfully he is on the mend and will return to work soon.

I was so looking forward to 2014, but if January is any indication, maybe we could just go back to 2013? Or, fast forward to 2015 skipping 2014 altogether?  LOL

Come to think of it...I'm really looking forward to those four Blood Moons in 2014 and all the stuff that comes with it!

Yeah, right!!!

 LOL
